Trekkers arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Mana Seasons Safari provides a private transfer to your lodge in Arusha. Meet our representative that evening or the next morning for a pre-climb briefing.

After breakfast, drive about 1 hour from Arusha to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Complete trekking permits, meet your porters, guide, cook, and game ranger, then begin the ascent. Pass open grasslands where you may spot buffalo, warthogs, and other grazers. Cross the Ngare Nanyuki River and continue through mountain forest, home to various birds and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut for the night.

Start early and ascend steeply through lush mountain forest, rich in birdlife, to reach the halfway point of Elephant Ridge with views of the crater. After 3–5 hours of climbing, arrive at Saddle Hut for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy an acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,794 m) for stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro over 80 km away before returning to Saddle Hut for the night. Early rest is recommended for the next day’s hike.

Begin the hike around 2:00 am, ascending steeply to Rhino Point (3,850 m) and then along a narrow ridge to the summit of Mount Meru, Socialist Peak (4,566 m), in time for sunrise. Enjoy breathtaking views, including Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance, and capture photos at the summit. Descend back via Rhino Point and Saddle Hut to Miriakamba Hut for the night.

Depart around 8:00 am and descend to Momella Gate. You can choose a longer or shorter route; the longer route offers excellent wildlife viewing and a glimpse of the ash cone. At the gate, tip your porters, guide, cook, and game ranger. Transfer back to your lodge in Arusha for a warm shower, dinner, and celebration.

After a restful night, bid farewell and prepare for your onward journey. Mana Seasons Safari will provide a private transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), or you may continue on a wildlife safari or Zanzibar beach adventure.
